When someone asks you what you do, how do you answer? Do you describe yourself as a noun or a verb? Are you the thing or the action?
Are you a teacher or do you teach?
Are you a nurse or do you nurse others?
Are we human beings or human doings?
I think the answer is that we are both, but the balance is constantly shifting. Some days we are focused on being the artist and some days we are more focused on doing the art.
You are more than what you do. It’s a subtlety that’s worth reflecting on once in a while. You are how you communicate. You are how you respond. You are how you show up, which is an integral part of the rhythm of the world.
I know for a fact that you have positively influenced another person’s life without knowing it. I know that the thought of you has brought a smile to many faces. I know you have inspired countless others. And I just wanted to say that you are doing great work and I am grateful.
