Noise.
The world is chock-full of noise. It is not uncommon to want to ignore it. But I believe you have to first identify it to be able to successfully dismiss it.
What does the noise look like right now in your life?
Noise is
messy
cloudy
murky
muddy
gloomy
thick
and dull.
Noise is like dense smoke in the air. Noise is terrific at sending you into chaos. And its force and frenzy can inhibit your presence of mind.
Practicing stillness can pull you out of this turbulence. You must pause and zoom out to make sense of the noise. This is not lazy. This is not selfish. It is observation and reflection that gives us peace and clarity.
Listen for the noise.
Notice how you feel.
Observe your reactions.
Hang in there.
Hang on.
